Hey guys,
I'm in need of some pro guidance. I'm looking for a strip with a good pre for vocals/piano, compression, and whatever else I can get crammed into the thing that won't harshly compromise overall quality. It will be used mostly for blues, slow and rockin. I'm looking for "blues" warmth...isn't everyone....for a budget of around 500-1000 dollars. It will probably be used along with a Rode NTK and AT4033 into a Mackie cfx16 mixer into the pc.
Hope that's enough info to get some help. If you need more...ask. =)
Thanks guys!!!
-Vic

Oh yeah...and how bout a good verb unit for blues vocals? 200-500 dollars max?

Why run a good preamp through a Mackie mixer? The RNP/RNC combo should be nice. For blues the new Meek TwinQ might be even nicer.

Another option might be a SafeSound P1. It goes for around 5-$600 I believe. Pre, Expander, Compressor/Limiter.

hhb or tl audio has great warm stuff and quality at a do-able price

The new twinQ should be available about the end of March. I use the old one. It serves me quite well, and I look forward to upgrading. I second Tex's suggestion on the TC Electronics M300, which is a pretty fair 24 bit 96 khz A-D convertor in it's own right. I have found it to be one of the most versatile cheap boxes anywhere. What is really shocking is that it isn't really a bad compressor, either. For $200, it's one of the best audio deals out there.-Richie
