I'm not a web designer by any means, but I just started working on a website and wanted some opinions.

I spent a couple days learning CSS/HTML to write the code, and also got a free forum from http://www.phpBB.com and changed the design to match the website.

The only pages working right now are:

home, sheet music, newsletter, contact, and forum.

Like I said, I just started, so there's not really anything on there now but some feedback on the design would be appreciated.

Here's the link. I don't have a domain yet so I'm having to host it from my computer:

http://71.207.229.156/en

Thanks.

the layout is good, not much to say its pretty much empty.
On the home page You should have more info, besides just news.
Ill check it out when you have it finished.

Thanks guys. I was just wanting your opinions mainly on the style/layout more than the content.

I'm new to CSS/HTML so it's coming along kind of slowly...

I've also got to finish recording my songs, writing the sheet music, etc., so there's still a lot of work to be done.

Sammy - I saw your site and it looks real professional. Did you hire someone to make it or did you do it yourself?

I was thinking of hiring someone but I heard web design doesn't come cheap...

I'd agree with the other posters. I'm gonna go a little farther, though.

1. On the front page Danny.Guitar graphic, I'd darken Danny.Guitar just to make it stand out a bit.

2. The color scheme is nice. Easy on the eyes.

3. Good font selection.

4. As a previous poster mentioned, it is a little empty, but as you said, it's a work in progress.

5. I don't necessarily know if you need the alternate languages.

6. The page does look nice and balanced, and you've got your important information "above the fold".

Good work. Keep it up.

Thanks for the tip on the logo, I'm going to try and darken it a little and see how it looks.

I'm not sure I'm going to keep the alternate languages, it was just an idea. I don't even know how I would go about translating, the online translators don't seem to be worth a damn for accurate translation.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Only darken the text...not the whole graphic. And don't darken it much, or it may throw off the balance of the page.

I do all my own design/development. Of course, I do it for a living from the "web application" or "web software" standpoint.

Hey dude...not sure if it's my end or what but I tried 4 times to check it and got nothin.....

???

me too.. not loading....

so ill just hijack this thread and say, why not check out ...

i still have 2 pages left to finish.. but i got it mostly done today

It wasn't working because my computer was turned off. It should work now though.

The site looks ok to me, I like the animated graphic on top. But the rest seems kind of bland and like it could use a more 'professional' look, especially if it's a site for a label.

I would personally redo the menu on the left, maybe use graphics or something, and do some better formatting on the text in the right frame.

I like it though.

I couldn't get most the left links to open anything?

Disjointed Records main page was about it...and the list of bands.

Danny.guitar looked professional but none of the links worked either?

Thanks CoolCat.

I probably should have waited to ask for opinions until I had more stuff on my site but I was just mainly asking about the layout/look/feel of the site more than anything, and trying to get that part down before I do more work on the site.

That way I can work more on content than design.

Thanks again.
