Heres some more guys to check out..

Thomas Lang

Thomas Pridgen

Derek Roddy

KJ Sawka

Larry Wright

Chris Dave

Good list. I'd add King Crimson's stuff for Bruford, too. In fact, if you can figure out the menu, Crimon's 'Deja Vroom' DVD is a riveting Bruford ride--there's an option to choose any one member of the band, with a different camera and sound mix that highlight that member. Bruford's amazing. (Edit: just now checked, and this DVD and others of his are available at Netflix.)

...Derek Roddy...

hehe. i almost listed hate eternal, but i think his style is pretty well reviled around here. i'm not much of a fan myself, but i've seen videos of him in the studio and he's obviously an incredible drummer. and he makes it look so easy!

O.O KJ Sawka for sure. I remember the first time i saw that dude on youtube..... dude's got some chops. and derek roddy does kick ass. Not too much of a thomas lang fan but he is phenomenal either way. how about benny greb? the first video that pops up when you search his name on youtube just amazes me. or Tony Royster Jr.?

Derek is often called Derek "one take" Roddy. The man nails EVERYTHING. it's ridiculous. He's just so clean and precise. He's one of few drummers that can really get me discouraged. I like to know that the big guys are human, too, but i don't think i've ever seen roddy screw anything up in my life.

*smacks self across the face*
cant believe i forgot royster jr haha

yea derek and thomas (lang) are both rediculous, noone should be that tech and fast.

KJ, ive always liked DnB, he was the first guy I saw do it realtime, so good.

Ill have to go take a look at bill bruford and benny greb ive never heard of them.:o

One guy that is also great, Jojo Mayer.

dross, thanks for starting this post, I have a feeling im going to be finding a lot of new favorite drummers through it.:D

I recently 'discovered' Jojo Mayer--man, has he got amazing skills. And an interesting philosophy.

A long time favorite of mine is Tim Alexander.

bruford is one of the most important rock drummers EVER. king crimson, yes, genesis (live after gabriel left), uk, earthworks, his solo stuff, gordian knot...the list goes on and on. the guy is a legend.

I just got done scoping him out on youtube....my sweet lord, he upholds his reputation from you guys. simply put....amazing

his rock work is seminal, but he's at the top of his game right in the here and now. search for the song "tramontana" by bb's earthworks. simply devastating.

gospelchops! all those gospel drummers are amazing. i'd love to be able to play like those guys.
