I recorded this song a few months ago and I'm not really happy with how it sounds. I feel like there are a few things just wrong in it but I don't know what(cause I'm just new in recording). Also, because it's my own band, I recorded, mixed and mastered it myself I can't step away from it and listen to it in an objective way. that's why I need your opinion! It's a punkrock'n roll song. And you can find it here:
.
Thanx!

imo you have the right voc for this kinda tune! cool song, nice guit playin - it roxx!!

about the mix, I can understand you that ur not happy with the mix -- it's like you swiched it to mono after 0:26!
I dunno so very much either about mixing, but there are a few rules like bass, kick and snare and most of the time the main voc have to be centered; everything else can(should) be panned, doubled or delayed to create the stereo effect. A lotta people(me included) are doubling the voc and guit tracks with a slight delay to make them fatter. hope this helps..

cheers

good song.. I agree with groovejunkie that it sounded like it switched to mono @26..bring up the snare.. maybe the bass drum too for starters.. good song.. 5:10 seems a bit long for a punk tune.. I would try to seperate some of the guitars by doing some panning..

Ok I know what you mean. yeah, the guitar in the biginning is extremely panned to one side. An d then it's suddenly brought back to a slighter panning but it's not Mono. Maybe I should have panned it all a bit more indeed.

The singing is excellent - both performance and recording.
The song is kind of generic - It's also too long.
The ending part sounds cool but it just some basic chords and really doesn't fit with the rest of the song.

Get rid of the end part, trim the whole thing down to 3:00 mins. and it wouldn't be bad.

The singer is big-time ready. The band sounds tight. You just need some real good songs to rise above the field.

I wouldn't spend too much time trying to perfect your recording technique. Work on writing good songs, and when I say good, I don't mean something right out of songwriting 101. They have to be different in some way.
