Hey guys,

I am relatively new to the whole recording business but I am an experienced guitarist and I "dabble" on the piano.

I am interested in recording a few of the songs I have written but I am unsure as to what the best setup/method is with the equipment and software that I have.

Equipment
~Maschine MK2
~Axiom 25 - USB
~PreSonus Audiobox USB
Plan to use Fender Jagmaster or Acoustic-Electric Seagull Entourage

Available Software
Maschine (bundled with Maschine)
Studio One 2 (bundled with Audiobox)
Logic Express 8

I am totally new to home studio setups so I am basically asking what is the best software to combine all three of controllers/boxes, and how to do so. I am tech savy so I do not need to be babied through this.

*I have used the Audiobox with Logic but the recording was low quality with significant buzzing when I began to play louder. What are the best settings or what do I need to change/ be aware of in order to have a clean recording?

I am using a Macbook Pro 15" Mid 2012.

You should be able to use all of your equipment with any major DAW. Ableton, Logic, Studio One, Cubase, etc will all be possible to use.

Was the significant buzzing clipping or distortion? This happens when the level of your input is too high. You'll need to turn that level down.

Do you have a full version of Studio One v2? Its a great program. I just got it recently and am really enjoying it. The layout is very comfortable.

I have been familiarizing myself with Studio One and I'm starting to like it.

I only have one more question at the moment. When I record a short guitar part, it works and I can see the input levels on the screen. But you can only hear the track it by plugging the headphones directly into the AudioBox because that is the main output of the track. Is it possible to change the output of a track while keeping the input source as the audiobox?

It doesnt seem like its possible to to make input not equal output from what I've tried. But maybe theres a way.

You know?

I don't have the AudioBox but I'm assuming you accidentally have turned your Output source to Input instead of "Playback". One knob on the front of the AudioBox lets you switch between listening to the input or output, or to blend the signals together (so if you're recording, you can hear yourself and the song, and blend the two to a comfortable level). Not sure if that's what is going on?
