Need Advice On equipment i need please..

Hi everyone, im new to audio but lookinhg to get some gear.
im going to be recording hip hop music using cool edit pro

after doing a bit of reasearch ive decided on a rode nt1a mic and a usb interface but i what i need to know is if my old laptop will be suitable for recording

its only 1.3 ghz celeron & 256mb ram but cool edit is the only thing that will be on it. will it work ok or not?

i have a good copmputer but i want to have a seperate one to record with and the old laptop is doing nothing...:)

To put it simply - no. That is a very low spec computer. It will probably record something yes, but will you be able to manipulate it effectively to get the most out of your music? no. The number of plugins will be very very limited.

Do it all on your faster machine
