hello all. we are recording a parody of 'iron man' called the 'ice cream man'. i recorded a version of it 4 years ago, but i was just goofing and can't sing. we have taken on a contract to film a music video for this project with a substantial budget.

i would love to take any personal advice on the vocal performance, but the lyrics themselves are set in stone as this is what turned interest to the comedian we are producing this for. this is my first parody i've worked on, and my second music video. i'm aware the backings are despicable, and that bring up another issue.

I would love to involve the talent of any musician that can pull off a pristine recording of this. We can record in nashville, la, or texas. We can pay expenses to record elsewhere in addition to contract 'for hire' fees if we hear something we like.

We have one unusual requirement and i'm not sure what the best way of approaching it would be. We would like a sitar or something of the sound of 'killing an arab' in the melody of the guitar solo in the middle. is this something that would be reasonable to get from a synth? it need not come from the same origin as the other recordings, so i'll entertain any ideas about where i can get that solo.

In addition, the vocals over the solo, he doesn’t eat he doesn't sleep... needs to be sung over the sitar in an angry grunge. We have planned on setting up another 'for hire' contract for that 15 seconds of vocals.

We place music to movies and films in Texas and LA and have 3 motion pictures, and 2 feature films we are placing audio ip to in 09' That’s really what most of our resources are suited for. i've never worked on a parody, and our only other music video we shot was a goof just to get a feel for what we are looking at.

i really don't know if this is the appropriate forum to discuss work like this, but i'm a little out of my league and would really like to get some feedback. We normally use taxi.com for a&r on our projects, but they are not the people to turn to for advice on anything artistically. our history should be on their site of talent we've signed in the past and projects we attached their artists to.

it would be really nice to hear what you think about the vocals, and ideas from anyone that can connect us with the instrumentals. the two lead vocal tracks are myself and one of the actors from brokeback mountain. my vocals will be replaced with the comedian (our client), with the exception of the grunge riff over the new sitar solo. the other lead vocalist pinned this contract when his submission to taxi came through to our music label on an unrelated project for a motion picture we are filming. There is the budget to this project that will pay contract fees as any other typical indie visual project. Our client has had numerous national television distributions of his top videos.

if you have busted head in the ground before trying to get submissions through to taxi, this is a project you can circumvent that process and get them straight to us. Again, we need the instruments, a new sitar over the solo, and a grunge vocalist over that new solo. recording location is not important. primary instrumentals will have priority so we can re record the vocals, including the grunge. again, your feedback would be invaluable as we have no experience in any of aspect of this project other than connecting talent and financing to production and distribution.

If this is not the appropriate place to post, please let me know and i'll remove it at once. i'm new to this site and postings of this nature, in general. you can contact me personally to discuss any aspect of this and are welcome to email any material that might be relevant.

did this comedian used to be a comedian? i like the song, hehe.

J/k

I most certainly wish I was joking around. I'm a terrible comedian and a poor producer on my very best days.

my movie my partner's movie my film studio in LA my a&r label

I seriously could use any assistance here. Email me above and I'll send you the script. There are some household names involved already and it is our belief our client is leaning towards primetime cable/satellite distribution and xm/sirus.

Thanks for the compliment, though. That means the world to us. You'll find well over 1m other fans of this track on YouTube. Kids are singing it at every j/h football game while the band plays the riff. It is an incredibly catchy tune. The music video is 10 times the audio track. I'll forward it to anyone that might have input or feedback for us. Thanks - Kent Fuselier. Btw, imdb.com has a page on myself, and my lead vocalist Dan Mcdougal. The brokeback thing was a total coincidence, but adds a lot of character to the track, IMHO.
