Need Advice: I have part of a home studio - what else do I need?

I have a few components that I have been using off and on over the past few years, really want to complete my home studio. Mostly will be doing solo projects, recording all instruments one by one and probably using a drum program for the percussion.

I currently have an Presonus USB input device, the basic software that came with it, a shure SM58 mic, and an M-Audio midi-interface.

What else would I need? Thinking some sort of drum software, a DI box to record bass, and a condenser mic for vocals / acoustic guitar. Not sure where to start though - any recommendations would be great. Also - I currently am using my desktop but was hoping to buy a dedicated desktop or laptop to use for recording - any inexpensive recommendations would be helpful.
 
I assume your M-audio is an audio interface with MIDI connections? If you can supply the model, would help.

If it is an audio interface (I think it is because of the Shure, unless it is the MIDI port), dump the USB mic, start recording with the keyboard and mic. Depending on your interface, you may not need a DI box as most allow straight plug into the interface.

Give us the M-Audio model and that will help.
 
Without model numbers, I'm guessing the Presonus and M-audio or both audio interfaces, you only need one.

You need a DAW (recording software), and you're set to start. The SM58 can be used for recording vocal and guitar to start out with, but you may want to upgrade to a condensor mic - but note that your tracking room is most likely going to need some acoustic treatment, as condensor mics are more sensitive and pick up more of the 'room sound' (reflections) than a dynamic mic like the Shure.
You'll need headphones (for listening to previously-recorded tracks and using a mic for new tracks. Monitors to listen to the mixes as you work on them.

Thanks, it's the presonus 2X2 audiobox. Also what is a good drum program?
 
Lots of them! EZ Drummer 2 is probably the least expensive. Superior Drummer is a step up from that. Steven Slate Drums.
 
Consider some thing like Maschine-Mikro... Drum Machine, sampler and sequencer... Comes with a boatload of sounds and 'Massive' (soft-synth - a good one). Midi in & out for hardware connectivity and very easy to get along with...
With the audiobox you have 2-ins for vox/instruments etc and outs to your monitors...
 
The Presonus has MIDI In/Out, you could avoid the M-Audio all together.

Not sure why, but I thought I originally read USB microphone. I think I just misread the Presonus USB part.
