Need a recommendation for a sound card

Hello,

I want to buy an audio interface to be able to record my guitar, harmonica, voice (mic) and keyboard (MIDI).
It can be USB or Firewire, doesn't matter.
I want to spend about $150.
I've seen some models such as the M-Audio Fast Track and the Lexicon Omega.

I've also received a recommendation for the Native Instruments Audio Kontrol 1.
I'ts a bit more expensive, but if some of you think it worths the money then i'll go for it.

How many inputs do you need - how many tracks do you want to be able to record at one time? What's your budget?
 
Do you mean analog inputs?
I'd very much like to have 3 of them, but i can manage with two if the price difference is big.

And as i said, my budget is $150, but it's flexible (not more than $250 !)

By Inputs he was referring to Mic inputs, instrument inputs, MIDI etc Do you already have any monitors if so what connection do they use.
 
Not just how many inputs, but how many individual tracks to you want to be able to record at one time? For example, if you want to record a vocal, guitar and stereo keyboard at one time, you would need to be able to record 4 tracks at a time, otherwise you will be mixing them together and unable to change the combined ones once recorded.
 
I don't think i will need to record more than 3 tracks at a time.
And right now i don't have monitors, just good speakers connected to my computer with a small PL.
The output from the new sound card is irrelevant to me now. i'm more interested in recording.
 
Yes, the output from the soundcard (note: you want an external audio interface, not a soundcard you put INTO the computer) is important - if you want to be able to record at least 3 tracks at one time, you need to look for that feature. Most interfaces less than $250 will only give you the ability to record 2 tracks at one time.

But yeah I agree with MJB when your buying your interface I would look into buying some monitors rather than your computer speakers or if your budget won't stretch that far some decent headphones.
