Need a really cheap mic

Its for recording mainly vocal and guitar for hopefully both live and studio work. I probably want an sm 58 but does anyone have a cheaper alternative?

Yeah... get the Shure SM57.

You can normally get a used Shure SM57 for about $40... get a Shure SM57.

They're pretty close... the differenent grills make them a little different... the SM57 is perferred over the SM58 in most cases, except sometimes maybe live vocals. Get the Shure SM57.

I like my AKG D321 well enough. Gear On Line have three pairs of them available for £105. You could use one for vocal and one for miking an amp.

DJL meant find one used. The 57s retail for $80 in the States, the 58s for $90. I often see the 57s for $50 used. I would buy a 57.
