Need a new set of ears.

I have been trying to make this sound decent, for about two weeks straight now. Im fed up, I hate it...for the most part.

I guess...just let me know what you think needs to be done. It isn't the entire song...and those drums at about 1:20 arent going to be in the final...its just a scratch, because i havent re-programmed them with the new sounds.

I'm burnt. Any comments are welcome...you can even bash me...I don't care...I am just trying to learn.


 
It’s not bad. The first thing I noticed was that some instruments are too far into the background and some too far front. Those stringed and fill instruments are good in the intro but then they almost go away in the body of the song. I wouldn’t turn them up though!! Instead, I would back off a few other things. All I hear is vocals, bass, and drums. I realize that for rock or pop music those should be well up front but they are really up there slapping me in the face. They could be relaxed a little bit and still be heard well. But don’t make everything the SAME volume either. That would be just as bad. I guess you need to find a happy medium.

The high frequencies seemed to be on the verge of harshness. I would try to soften them up just a bit.

Don’t just take my word for it though. I am still learning myself. People are still telling me how to fix my mixes too.

It’s a good song so keep working on it. If you get frustrated, take a break from it. Let it alone for a day or so, and then come back to it. You are actually doing better than you think.

yeah i am going to let it alone until tomorrow probably...and then go back...just too damn frustrated.
I am going to have the singers re-track the vocals...because I'm not satisfied with the takes...when i do i will be sure to watch the highs though

as for the recording, change the bass drum sound to something that doesnt sound like um...that. the drums sound way too electronic and not in a good way. but it sounds like you're doing almost like a postal service type thing here. the music is good though, finish it up though, sounds good so far. just needs tweeking on the drum sound.
 
not my kind of music but its pretty good, btw nopoetic... mind checking out my song i want to hear what u got to say... its like the 4th one down in this forum
 
thanks for the input...i have been tweaking the drums since i posted...so hopefully by the end of the week i will have something that i am satisfied with...thanks again.
