After thinking about what a few folks here have said regarding the Eureka not being much of an upgrade from my pres in the Topaz, I have decided that a mic upgrade would be a better direction to take. That being said, I thought maybe I should return the Eureka, the MC-012s, and the used POD I picked up and look at better mics. That adds up to about $900 or so. Originally, the idea was to get a pre for the POD, but I can't stand the thing. My friends sansamp blows it away, and I'll get a GT2 or TRI AC next week. That leaves me with $900 for a vox and OH mics. I can stretch for another $100 or so, but thats it!! So, is there a mic out there (at GC) for $499 or under that I could get a pair of and have good vox and killer OHs??? Or, do I keep the MC-012s for OH and go for a vox mic in the $700 or less range??? Or, do I get AKG C430s ($199/pr) and have $800 for vox mic??? This is just driving me batty. I'm going to GC tomorrow, so any input would be invaluable. Remember, this is for rock/blues/acoustic/country. No hip hop.....

That would probably be what I would do. I guess for 700 USD, you can get a fairly decent vocal mic -- and I personally find the Oktava's to be quite OK. But since you have them, make sure to test them out and check they reasonably equal, if you intend on using them as a stereo pair.

Vocal mics: If you don't mind the chinese variants, maybe Rode K2, SP T3, or something similar would be interesting. Or an AT4050 or 4060. Or MXL V77 or V69. Or CAD... or whatever -- test it first!

I don't know the price for a TLM103, but I guess it may be a bit above your price range, and I'm not sure these can be had from Banjo Centre ;-)

As far as an all-purpose type that can do overhead, accoustic, vocal, etc. and do them all well, I'd probably go with a Shure KSM-44.
