Just heard that Native Instruments have entered insolvency. No idea what will happen, but if you have lots of money tied up in their systems and products, it might be a worrying time!

It highlights a real problem with cloud-linked systems. The EV market is similarly at risk with assorted web-based subscriptions that keep your car running.

I saw the news about NI a few places yesterday. There are lots of folks out there with Kontact, IzoTope and PlugIn Alliance products that could be on edge. It's becoming more common for company sites to close down and content requiring those sites is lots.

With luck, someone will purchase the IP and at least maintains some support. But unless there is some potential for some ROI, they could become orphans.

Well that is sad news...I have Kontakt but TBH haven't used it in years...I also own a NI Kontrol 88 keyboard that I really enjoy playing...These days a good fatar keybed controller is pretty easy to come by on the used market for under $200 so if it dies and has no support on the software side it can be replaced. On the hardware side pretty sure Fatar is going to be able to weather the storm.
NI was a great innovator back in the day...and they offered some nice things up to now...Hope they find a way to stay afloat.

Earlier last year their KA6 Mk ll interface was on sale for silly money. I was a bit broke at the time but now wish I had got one. I have a Mk1 but it has issues. Still bloody good drivers and low latency mind!

I also got an email yesterday from Forte. That is going due to a bereavement but the top software is on offer until Feb 7 for $99 I want to buy it for my son. Notation software is no use to me!

Dave.

Izotope will just become independent I think - NI will sell it off in the Bankruptcy probably - Izotope as a company is very solid with good sales - Plugin Alliance is owned by NI? They aren’t having any problems - so if they are also part of the NI package it will get sold as well.
