Nady SCM900

So which Mics are similar (if any) to the Nady SCM900 in the bottom feeder scheme of things? Does any one have any personal experience with this Mic?

I have one of these mics and they are really good for the price but as a vocal mic the scm1000 is alot better. the scm900 if used for overhead drums or vocals it sounds flat and it is very sensitive. so i have no complaints .

But I have heard this mic get slammed on a few threads. compare it to a marshall 57. Its almost the same. 79.00 at musicians friend wow.

I dont understand why that more of us didnt respond to this thread. Like we are the only ones to own these mics.

By the way good luck there.

there is a couple of favorable threads for the nady scm1000 going on right now.

I own a couple of these mics too (got them as a gift.) Personally I think they don't sound that wonderful for drum overheads ( a little too harsh on cymbals.) My 603's are MUCH better!! They're OK for acoustic guitar but they are a bit muddy. They are pretty good for vocals though. For $80 you can't go wrong...

They're not * THAT BAD*!!!

Have you tried to use a compressor to tame the HARSHNESS AT THOSE FREQUENCIES. Sorry my caps lock came on, I wasnt yelling at you.

No mic clip

Just a word of warning. If you are thinking of buying this mic from Musician's friend, this mic does not come with a mic clip, and I mean none as I just found out. Your only option is to order a shockmount seperately which makes this mic not quite as great a deal as it seems.

Hang it from the ceiling with the cord. (no shocks effect the cieling so Its a good place to do this)

$79 nady

i bought one of the $79 nady's from musician's friend....i use it for vocals and guitar and i'll have to say that im very pleased with it. i record vocals with a pop filer (a stocking stretched over a coat hanger, bent in a circle LOL) i use nothing but a noise gate when recording the track....then during mixdown i add compression and eq. the mic has alot of definition and sounds really good.....its a killer mic for guitar cabs too, better than my sm58.

i was thinking of buying this mic but, no mic clip kinda blows, a shockmount is like $30(?)im strapped, because i want a tube mic pre also. ive been using a sm57 for every thing i record(vocals an guitar) any one think the Nady sounds better than a sm57 for vocals?????

I bought one last year and am very pleased with it for the price.

If you want to see a quick-and-dirty $10 holder for it, go to my website ( www.timobrien.n3.net ) and take a look at my "music tips" page. The photo will show you all you need to know to build one.
