Wow, the XM jumped in price a whole lot. I purchased one sometime in late 2008 if I recall, and it was much cheaper than $80. It looks that there is a new version out now?

Not really, it used to be $69 without accessories. About six months ago I decided to bundle everything with accessories, plus I found a much nicer clip that unfortunately isn't cheap. Then there was the $20 matching or calibration charge that is now included in the cost. Nearly all were purchased as matched pairs, so . . . it's actually a few dollars cheaper than the old a-la-carte price.

New version is more efficient, 1.2mA vs. 3mA.

Well...as long as we got you here...maybe a cool outboard mic design for field recorders...something that could mount on a camera and work using battery power inline...something alot like the Blue Mickey but for a pocket cam or pocket field recorder...can be hidden easily...for concerts and such.

If you don't see it, I discontinued it. Basically, I can only make so many different things without going insane . . . the X-X lapel mic is on hiatus though, it will be back shortly. X-Q is gone for good. I'm still cogitating a 16mm omni mic, that might happen sometime in the spring. Other than that, I am pretty much done with mic changes for the year.

Also, nosedud is banned

I think it might have been the X-Q. Around $60 for a matched pair?.....good for acoustics if I recall? damn I wanted those. :(

There's a dozen vendors that make that kinda stuff, I'm not too interested. Plus you gotta get the mics in the right place, which is probably not attached to the recorder.
