your guitar sounds well balanced (not too bright or boomy). do you think the mics are accurately capturing your guitar?

yeah i believe so. i really like how the omnis tend not to get boomy when cardiods often have that problem if your moving in your chair and your soundhole begins to point at the bridge mic. i really love the way these mics capture the intricacys of my picking and strumming.

Is that your dog barking!(2:50apx)

Sounds good, I was looking at this mic. I may buy it now, thanks.

Nice guitar and playing. What is it?

And yea I had this mic too and I think it does a good job on acoustic guitar.

Edit: Never mind didn't notice you say what kind of guitar it is. :o

I found a comparison between the Schoeps CMC5 with the MK2s capsule, the Oktava MC012 (omni capsule) and the Naiant MSH-1A on this site:

The MSH-1A sounds really good in this guitar sample - the only real drawback for professional use is the higher noise level. But in respect of the low price it's of course an exceptional microphone.

I think the newer ones are quieter, even the tiny ones.

those sound great! i wish i had a better room to fully evaluate the self noise, because right now i'm getting so much room noise that its hard to differentiate room from circuitry.

Holy crap. I can't believe I'm actually digging the Oktava next to a Schoeps. If I actually owned a Schoeps, I think those samples might cause me to be somewhat depressed over my purchase.

Timothy Lawler does a lot his classical guitar recordings with Schoeps and MSHs.

yea, I see the new ones are selling out already- and I'm really anxious to hear reviews vs MSH1's. I'm curious if the 'lower' noise is physical/handling noise, because the dBA self-noise measurements are the same...

How this self noise compare to 603s? The data specs shows that MSH-1 is 2dB more than 603s. Did someone compare it?

I have a pair of the older msh-1a's and they aren't noticeably noisy thru a dmp3. Being omni, they do pick up every minuscule noisy in the room though where something like a 603 is much more forgiving.

EM did a doubleblind shoot out several years back with a bunch of expensive SDCs on acoustic guit. They included the MC012. The panel of listeners included musicians, engineers, producers, etc. Overall, the MC012 kicked some serious ass, almost always near the top.

Those mc(mk) 012s are pretty sweet little mics. I sold my unmatched pair with plans to get a matched pair with all 3 capsules. I ended up putting the money else where and now I ain't got no oktavas. A guy's living a sad life when he lusts over cheap microphones.
