N-track not working well with Windows 2000

I recently got a version of 2000 server from someone at work and installed it on my computer. Previously, I was using '98, and N-track was working like a dream. I am now having pops and clicks, and cannot move the wave files whenever I am attempting to synce up the tracks without lots of stops and starts to the music. I have tried adjusting the buffers but this seems to make the problem worse. If anyone has got any ideas I would be most grateful. Otherwise I will have to go back to '98, which was really working very weil. Thanks.

why not try 2000 professional or xp professional instead...they are more stable and have better memory usage than 98

Isn't windows 2000 server and 2000 professional virtually the same program?
