Hello all. I recently ran into a strange new problem in that hardware outputs that should show up in Reaper's routing screen have suddenly disappeared. To be clear, I am not sure this is a Reaper issue for reasons that will become clear. It also showed up suddenly and (seemingly) without any action on my part. I walked away from Reaper one day and when I came back the next, things were not right.
Long story short, I suddenly lost all ability to hear panning. I can "see" it on the meters, and rendering a stereo song and listening to it elsewhere confirms Reaper is still operating in stereo even though I can't hear it.
I am aware of the trap of sending the wrong outputs to the wrong places and creating these sorts of issues, but pretty sure that's not what's going on here. Outputs that should be available to me are simply missing. I think this is pretty clearly illustrated in the attached screenshots. Using both my current recording laptop and my previous one (which still has Reaper loaded) and using two different Presonus interfaces for comparison, I get the results shown in the pictures.
Comparing the 1810c on the two laptops, it looks normal on the old laptop - all expected outputs present. On the newer machine, the output list begins at Line Out 4. Similarly stunted results from the 24c.
I have concluded, for obvious reasons, that the issue is likely not the interface(s). This would seem to leave an issue with the newer computer or some setting I am missing in Reaper on that machine as the culprits.
I have been poking at this off and on for a few weeks now and it's driving me crazy. If I don't find an answer soon I think I will try a desperation factory reset on my current laptop and start from scratch. Don't want to go there, but I am running out of other ideas.
Any thoughts anyone can offer would be most appreciated.
Take care,
John
