Does anyone know what this cable can be used for?
I have 3 of them that I won in an auction of audio cables.
I noticed it doesn't have 2 rings on the tip like a balanced or stereo cable would have. I just don't understand why it splits if it doesn't have a stereo tip on the single side. All three tips have a mono type tip.
I currently reconfigurating my mixer setup, and need to get myself some "send and return" cables for my outboard effects, and I came across 3 of these.
But, I don't see how they could work as a send and return without the extra ring on the tip.
Can anyone tell me what type of cable this is? and what it is used for?
thanks

Just a simple Y cable. Generally used to connect one output to two inputs.

That's all? Nothin' special about that lil bugger...
What about the other way around? Two inputs to one? Will I damage anything that way? just curious because of the red color..
Thanks

They just made it red to look pretty. You can run it either way without hurting anything.

probably not you can run into some impedance issues but while no matter how you use it you might not achieve exactly the out come you expect (going from one guitar to two amps via simple 'Y' can effect how the pick ups load but is unlikely to ruin the guitar, but that scenario is unlikely to produce exactly the outcome wanted)

Don't do it, you will get cancellation problems from 2 amps driving into each other.

Alan.

Who said anything about 2 amps? He said that he would be using them for patching effects units.

If you patch the output of 2 effects units together or even the left and right output of an effects unit together you are effectively summing 2 amplified outputs together, everything with an output has and amplified output, I was not talking about a power amplifier.

If you sum 2 outputs you are driving them against each other. You can build a summing box to do this but you cannot just use a cable.

Cheers

Alan.

So, What could or would be the correct way to link my processors together if I do NOT have any send and return cables?
Just run plain balanced cables in the send and return?
or run instrument type cables from the outs to the ins?
I'm tryin' to get away with using as less ins/outs on my M-2600 as possible.
Because I have quite a few effects processors.

Should I be using these?
One is a audio patch cable and the other is instrument.

One is balanced =T/R/S and the other is not T/S.
Now what was your question?

Thanx moresound.
Maybe you can help me out?
I just posted over in the "rack" forum.
Check it out, let me know what you think.
