good luck

if i buy wharfs it would have been the UK built Yellow-Kevlar cone's.
thats the one Massive recommended anyway, started all this.
well, some pro recommended 'em to him..yadyayadayadaa

i mean if Eric Clapton says " i like my 1962 US standard Fender, highly recommend it..has great intonation, sound...blah,blah,blah...".

doesn't mean if I go buy a chineese built 2005 "Fender" it will
be the same as he refered to?

the funniest post was the "new Wharfs arrived.."
"my tweeter crackles, unless i put my finger on it, then the crackling stops...but I LOVE THESE SPEAKERS!!BOTH my l.e.d's work tho!!"
or some sht like that.
thats how crazy it got... Wharf-beatlemania.

Well, I was going to get the wharfies but decided that it was just easier to go local and get the Yorkville's, here in South Surrey, B.C. To be honest, after all the reading and hype about both, I'm just finally glad to have my monitors here and it's doubtfull you'd notice any difference between the two. They both get the same reviews for all the reading I've done, and that's a lot. I'm SURE you'd like the Yorkvilles if you got them. YMMV.

Yes indeed. I was originally going to get the Yorkvilles but decided at the last minute to order the Wharfes from deepwater to save some money (I'm a broke student). Well, almost 2 months later I've got nothing except a big bill at the local music shop from renting monitors so I could get tracking done which I promised people I'd do for them, assuming I would have had my monitors in reasonable time.

I can't get the Yorkvilles now until Deepwater refunds my money... so, you know, Deepwater, have at it man. You've got my PayPal info.

also check out the KRK rokit series, all the ones at long & maquad (within BC) have been sold out, that might say something
rokit 5 has a punchier/tighter bass, and alot cheaper
ysm1p has a lot of high mid, if you love genelec or dynaudio's techno smile sound, you might not want this to be your only set of speaker

Yeah, I was going to check the KRKs out as well in store. One benefit is they have KRK's at the other music store in town so I wouldn't have to give any more money to the bastards at Long and McQuade. haha.

Your Lucky you did deal with Deepwater actually...

Your lucky you DID deal with Deepwater, anyone else online wwould have told you to fhk off and deal with Fed Ex yourself. most likely.
sht happens.
$300 range monitors....hmmm
i didn't have ANY Wharfs around either and can relate.
but just couldn't gamble on buying without hearing....
fhk the shipping would eat your savings, if you sent em back!!

i tried the KRK RP8's....they were my favorite from GC.
had a pair for $350/Demo end of month sale!!
took em home but they were too BIG for my tastes...on my little
HR desk. very nice tho. very, very hard to return, but i had to.

I laughed at the V4's...then I had to "Eat Crow". V4's are very well liked.
and with a sub is pro material.

I wound going Passive with B&WDM303. Done a few songs now, like em...
well, i cheated...i hooked up an old sub i already had. Nice JBL. (wouldn't want to lug that fhkng sub around!!daaamnnn!)
they have quality all over 'em...you just know it when you get a quality-built
piece.

good luck, peace out dude.

Actually, if you had bought your Wharfedales from ANY other reputable and established dealer, you would already have either your speakers or your money back. I understand that Deepwater was "doing people a favor" by selling them at a better price, but it is no favor when the shit hits the fan and nothing gets resolved. I don't know how and why everything happened, so i can not, nor do I want to, say anything bad about Deepwater himself. What sounds odd though is 12 fedex claims. Thats an awful lot in a short period of time. And the backorder as well. I ALWAYS know if something is backordered when I order it because a good dealer will tell you BEFORE you pay for it. It's too bad that all this happened, but it seems like it is more than just one person and that is DEFINATELY not a good sign.

Guys... it's been nearly four months since I ordered my pair. I still only have one on my desk. Deepwater may be a good guy but that's pretty ridiculous, coupled with the problems that everyone else seems to be having. If you decide to sell something you really have to do it right.

I must say the situation is looking not very good for Deepwater at the moment. Hopefully he will just clean up this mess and make things right for everyone. If not we do have the right to complain to the authorities. I don't want to seem harsh to the guy but if he is not delivering, it has to be done.

Something has to be done, I don't know about going to any kind of authorities quite yet, but then you've been waiting a lot longer than I have. Four months? Man alive, and I thought two months was bad. I think we've all been pretty reasonable about this really. If any other business pulled something like this I dare say we'd all be going nuts right about now. I think since we were getting a "deal" and were his "friends" we're being a little more leniant with the guy. That's going to have to end soon. Any other business would be falling all over themselves to rectify this situation, he doesn't seem to give a shit.

about Deepwater's "price"....you could probably get a price as low or close from most dealers.....they just have a minimum advertised price that they, as authorized dealers, can list.....that is by no means the minimum that they can sell it for.....

and by the way, Deepwater may spam, but i dont think hes a thief....if you think youve waited too long, have you thought to ask for your money back?.....im pretty sure he'd give it to ya lickety split.....

Have you read back in this thread? A couple people HAVE asked for their money back, with apparently no response.
In my case it would be useless since I've already gotten ONE of the speakers. I could ask for half my money back I suppose, but then what do I do with this one?

I don't think he's a thief either, but I do think he might be neglecting his business responsibilities a little. Running this kind of operation is hard, and it sounds like he wasn't quite prepared for it.

Oh I've asked, I've asked. Money refunded thus far: $0.

I agree with Bleyrad, I don't think he's a thief at all, just in a little over his head. Regardless of how we want to label this whole mess, there are a lot of unhappy people right now and something needs to be done.

I'd contacted the police in 4months!!! thats fhkng theft?
Definately contact your Credit Card and they should withdraw.
nothing personal to Deepwater....
but 4 months, c'mon thats fhkng ludicrious!

that is beyond fhkng bllsht service.
my whole attitude just changed on this crap.... Deepwater "special service".
i never knew there was all this positive HYPE???

fhkng special service for my friends at HR com...4months! whooooaa!

i agree with Gidge he's a harmles polite-spammer...
but damn, there's a bunch of QC problems with the
Chineese Wharfs....and poor service too???
BAD COMNBINATION.

THUMBS DOWN on the Wharf hype.......and crappy 4month special service

Bricks n' Mortar stores sounding better and better...

If you have been waiting for four months, than there is no making it right to me. Especially with the lack of communication. In fact, not only would I want my money back, in full, plus tax and shipping, i would demand that he paid for the return shipping of the one that you do have (assuming he even wants it back). Even if he sends you your money back he should still send you the other speaker. It sucks that this has happened, but I kind of saw this coming. All the hype was a real turn off for me, but thats my predisposition to be cautious of cheap gear.

The one thing that he did do that really made me leary of what he does was a public posting a while back of the dealer price of a Soundcraft Ghost. As a person that runs a pro audio rental shop and does occasionally sell gear, that is a big no no. You never discuss confidential dealer pricing with clients. It isn't their business how much you pay for an item, only what you are willing to sell it to them for, and how much someone else will as well. I hate to have to think negatively, but this is starting to look worse and worse. :(

Deepwater seems to be a well meaning amateur. You can't run a mail order business and then go travelling for long periods of time. The Wharfedale discussions, originally triggered by Massive Mastering who knows what he's talking about, are to do with the product, not Deepwater who is just one of many sources.
