Hello everyone - I have recorded some ideas, please comment on the mix in any way; or comment on any aspect of it really.

They are at www.edbol.co.uk

They are mostly rough snippets or live jams.

I have Logic Platinum, Presonus Firepod, Rode NT1-A, SM57 beta A, Roland V drums, many strange home made guitar and bass amp rigs.

I used to try and pollish the tracks and make them good with fx and stuff, but now I beleive less is more in terms of technology, and I try to capture the real sound from the cabs and vox etc, and do as little to them as possible as I think modern production isn't real and raw enough. Compare Jamiroquai's first and latest albumns, the early stuff is raw and live sounding, and the new stuff for me is far too produced and not so real (although still brilliant)

I'll shut up now, enjoy my dittys on my little site: www.edbol.co.uk - all comment welcome

Thanks; and enjoy!

Different tunes have different strengths and weaknesses, but I think they're all in the ballpark of being pretty decent recordings.

I think you did best on "Pathetic" as far as the drums go. I have trouble making out a snare on some other tunes. If that's not a real drummer playing, you did a pretty damned good job making me believe they're real.

You do have a tendency to let guitars dominate over the top of the mix sometimes, but it's all pretty solid, in my humble, amateur, hackish opinion.

Man, pathetic is a really good song... I'd love to hear more of this music with vocals. "Settle Down" has a kind of a country vibe to it, but it's not country, lol.

Very good, entertaining listens. Thanks for posting this stuff.

hey thanks man! The drums are V-Drums played into the exs24 in logic. Ha, your right about the guitar dominating, most of the stuff I didn't vary the volume throughout the track, as its all rough.

Stoked you found it entertaining!

I think this stuff is great
Raw sounding but good, like a good live recording of a nice loud performance.
Love the guitars, bass, drums were a bit indistinct on the first track but fine on the rest.
Reminds me of some great UK and Australian bands of the early 90s
Yeah!

cool, most of it is live! I love the live sound rather than highly produced stuff. Reef's first albumn for example, is basic sounding, but captures all the raw live energy through mics pointed at instruments with little further processing - thats my style!

Thanks for the feedback - sign up to my silly little podcast at www.edbol.co.uk

cheers
