My studio under construction

Hey All,
This is my studio project currently under construction. It is 16x20 with a control booth in one corner. I would welcome your input and advice. This has been a dream of mine for 35 years. Thanks!

And your shop looks a whole lot like mine too. ATY Building, by chance? Same steel, insulation...

I ended up doing pretty much what you're doing. If it's not too late tho, I'd like to add that I ended up raising the roof of my space. The extra height you've got above your current studio roof can be well used. It made a nice difference in my studio.
Food for thought if it's not too late.

Anyway, keep the pics rollin man. I love this stuff.

Thanks for the reply, I used the space on top to store all the crap I had to move to clear the space out. lol. The shop actually belongs to my best friend, we live on the same property next to each other. just went through a divorce after 17 years which is why I have money now to do this. lol

Why all of the OSB? Drywall is actually better for isolation from what I have heard from those who know.

I wondered why you made your work more difficult by building the desk first? Cladding the walls with it in place will be loads more difficult? Nice job though! Keep in mind that all your efforts keeping sound in and out will be compromised by the smallest gaps. Cutting around obstacles is always the place where you get leaks. I put a smoke machine in my last one, filled the room up and then looked for leaks, and found quite a few!

The material you are using on the walls - not sure of the US term. It's not got enough mass to stop sound passing through it. Horrible stuff with loads of air gaps and voids. Ply, MDF and gypsum based sheeting (12mm at least) work well. That boarding is not a good choice.

I have the luxury of not having to worry about keeping the sound in, nobody to bother. you are correct, drywall would be better but I am trying to keep the cost down so I had to cut corners somewhere. also not really a problem keeping sounds out, we are in the country with nothing close. nearest road is 100 yards away. As to the desk, the guy that built it for me was leaving town for a few months to work so it was either then or wait a few months. thanks for the advice!
