ok. Ive only just discovered this site!! but ive been building up my gear for some time...and after reading some of threads im wondering if ive made some bad decisions!!!

Ive got a Delta 1010 as the heart of my recording studio...but because I needed to record drums, acoustic guitar, vocals etc. I thought that I would need some sort of mic pre-amps to get a good quality signal into the Delta.

I checked out quite a few pre-amps..all very pricey and with only 1 or 2 channels..I needed about 5 or 6 for drums!! ouch! I started to think about mixers....

to cut a long story short..I ended up going with a Behringer EuroRack MX2642A (mixer) because it had Direct Outs for each channel that I could assign to the Delta - Plus I could use this desk when my band wants to record live.

Was this a mistake?

For the price..the Behringer was the only mixer I could find with the number of mic preamps and direct outs on each channel that I needed .........i think it was a good choice?????

It was only a mistake if you don't like the quality of the pres.

Post a song quick and put these ney-sayers to silence!! Tell 'em it was mixed with a Mackie before dropping the bomb on them!! :D

It will work but there are definately much better options out there. You would get better quality and resale value out of a Mackie or Soundcraft.

Any piece of equipment is fine as long as you are happy with the results it gives you. When you start to become dissatisfied with it, then it is time to trade up. Meanwhile, having worked with your basic set-up for a while, you are gaining invaluable hands-on experience that will help you to make more informed purchasing decisions in the future.

Remember, to some extent you will always be looking forward to getting into that next "better/more-expensive system". It is the nature of the beast (and why we are all always broke!)

cheers :)

yeah....have to say the equipment seems very clean in its representation of the signal...so im pretty happy all round. (not that ive ever had anything to compare it with!)

but as you said - we always dream of bigger and better :P
