Yeah, I shop at the nearby small shops as often as I can--if you can call Buffalo Brothers small. Especially for guitars, unless you are getting some kind of incredible blowout price at GC the small shops will compete in price and even beat GC, especially if you have established a relationship with the management.
On the otherhand, GC is THE gear orgy. I usually go early Friday afternoons before the asylums let the residents out for the weekend. And you can find incredible gear deals at GC if you are patient and know what you are doing.
