My New Studio :D

Hi,
I wasn't sure whether to post this in the Studio Building forum or here so moderators feel free to move it.

So, I posted a few days ago I posted that I was looking at buying an MS16 and a studiomaster desk. Well, I bought them, collected them yesterday and set it all up last night and today. I've done a test recording on it and I'm very impressed with the sound A lot better than my old setup. Anyway, here are a few pictures of my studio before and after. I've still got to work out how to arrange everything best but they give the idea. Enjoy

I'm mixing down to CD. I've kept the same CD Sony recorder. I'll upgrade at some point but at the moment I'm happy with the results.

Nice! what did the MS16 cost? there were two here in Germany last week. The better one went for 855 Euro the Defective one went for about 500 Euro.

I got the MS16 for £521 and the desk for £100. That MS16 is so heavy btw. 17 stone!

Yeah, that's going to do your resale value a power of no good if you decide to sell on any of the stuff at some stage.

It's an Ampeg BA115 combo. I've had it for about three years now, it's a great amp.

I certainly do, it's got a very nice sound. It hasn't been used for about three years so all the knobs are crackling. I've cleaned some of them and they're working fine now. It's going to take quite some time to get them all crackle-free but apart from that, it's a great desk.

I'm planning to build a 'workstation' now to house all the gear in. It's all spread across various tables and desks at the moment so I'm going to construct one space-saving unit to put it all in.

Have you noticed any Transport issues with your MS-16?
Mainly at the Capstan and Pinch Roller in Play, Rew, and/or FF?
I have 2 MS-16's and both have this problem of rubbing up at the Tape Guides.
I'm getting one of them fixed at Tascam right now and the other has been
turned in for parts.
When I get my Studio up and running, we should exchange Recordings
done on our MS-16's. Like Analog Pen-Pals.

Where are your 1" Tapes?

it's 16 buss with 16 tape returns. I can record all 16 tracks at once without resorting to direct outs. The 1" tapes are somewhere else in the room out of shot. I have four. Only one of them is any good though, the other three are sticky. So is the alignment tape which is very annoying seeing how expensive they are :/

I've not noticed any transport issues so far, it all seems to be running smoothly.
