DBX.

We put the "sumer" in prosumer.

How's that?

Tommy Cram, your going to have to forward that idea over to your marketing guys.

I thought it would've been something like:

"The tube helps. Really."

some of their smaller units could use a "toob job" :)

Wow!

Wow! You guys are genuises, why don't you pass your excellent ideas on to the appropriate dept.

Thanks for pointing out my keyboard slip, I type too fast sometimes. Did you pass your most excellent suggestion on to marketing?

I don't get it.

Maybe when I have a PHD on my 166XL I will understand.
Right now I am attempting compression as a second language:D

What would be nice from Tom/DBX would be:

1) Turn all knobs down.
2) Bring the ______ up to ______
3) Bring the ______ up to ______
4) Now listen for the _____ of the _______ and increase or decrease to your flavor.
....)
....)
249) Adjust the output to match your input.

Now someone cough it up!

Why can't they all be "output" knobs so I can understand:D:D

yup.

I hear ya Bighand. I spend most of my day explaining compression basics to people on the phone.

The problem is that there is no one perfect baseline setting for a compressor. It is entirely dependent on the input level. So I tell them what each knob does and the artifacts to listen for, and then set them loose. Give me a call if you want more detail, or check the archives. I know that Sonusman, and I think it was Ametth (I'm not sure), had some cool articles about compression.
