Well, how well did it go in? That's the important part.
Haunt Craigslist, and assemble a set of Zildjian A's, Sabian AA's, and/or Paiste 2002's. All are versions of the basic cymbal sounds that we've gotten used to hearingon recordings for the last century or so, all will sell cheap ($100 or less) regularly on the used market. You will learn your tastes from them well enough, and then you can worry about the pricier lines.
The B8 hats aren't all that bad, actually.

The first thing I thought when I looked at the pictures was, "nice kit, too bad about the cymbals".
If you really can't tell that a Zildian K is far superior in sound to a B8 - then perhaps you can save yourself some money and don't upgrade the cymbals. It don't make sense to spend money if you don't think it improves your sound.
However, the fact is, B8's are very entry level, are very harsh sounding with all fundamental tones (which makes them relatively un-musical). Based on the music you indicate you play - the B8's may get the job done, and perhaps that's good enough.
You will find that the B8's don't record all that well (certainly not as good as K's or other higher line cymbals). If you do choose to upgrade, K's are not the right choice for you (they lend themselves much more to jazz, etc. and are not designed to be "bashed"). I think the recommdation for Zildjian A's, Sabian AA's or Paiste 2002 are all good choices. Of the 3, you may like the A's - which I feel are more of a rock & roll cymbal. I personnally think the AA's are the most versatile.
For the record, I play only Sabian HH (hand hammmered) - with Zildjian K's for my hi-hats. However, I am more of a jazz/funk player who prefer's the subtle overtones rather that the more in your face tones of A's or AA's.
That all being said - nice new drum kit. Enjoy!

LOL, it'll get me neg rep, i'm sure, but i thought the exact same thing.
i'd recommend some used zildjian a's and k's. but that's me. others would recommend paiste 2002's. talkin new cymbals, i really like the sabian paragons. but cymbals are like heads in that you have to find the ones that work for you.
cymbals are also like guitars and snare drums in that not every cymbal works for every song/style--some require small crashes, some big, etc. over the years i've acquired enough hats, rides and crashes to fully outfit at least 2 kits. and fwiw, i still use the 16in Scimitar Bronze cymbal (the late 80s equiv of the B8) that came with my first cymbal pack. it's trashy and explosive, which works for some things.
anyway, look used and upgrade 1 at a time.
AND CONGRATS ON THE NEW KIT!!!

I don't think I'll be buying from MF again. It was a major clusterfuck to get these drums.
All your cymbal recommendations are noted. I'll be going out and banging on some soon to see if I can really hear a difference. I'm gonna bring mine with me to compare.

Nice kit, I wish I could buy a new set of drums. If I could buy one new set, it would be a DW (<-dreaming). Anyways, I just read a comment on that you have no ear for cymbals. My suggestion and advice would be to listen to other albums and listen for the cymbals in the songs. Sometimes, you'll see the credits of the album and the musicians names and sometimes have a listing of their instruments that they used. I, myself, am not a heavy metal player, but I bought top of the line Paiste cymbals from wholesale retailers. I bought a pair of used 15" Paiste 2002 Soundedge hats for like $130. They may look ugly, but they give a nice high chick sound. My ride is a 22" paiste 3000 series heavy ride. I have a 18" crash and a 14" crash too. My 14" crash is from the very top line, it's a fast crash. I have a Paiste 2002 18" china. My first cymbal is a Paiste 505 16" crash. I have had that cymbal for like 20 years now and it has had a beating over the years. That is just a small list of cymbals. I guess my reason for this brand is the quality of the cymbal. They are hand hammered and they have a very nice dry, warm sound. Zildjian's are very good. In some albums that I've heard from sound like it has more of a papery wet sound. But like I said, it is what you like to hear, what kind of sound you would like have. The higher the price range is going to be the best sound you would have invested in. When you go to the music store, ask for a drumstick to at least tap the cymbals and get a taste of what they are going to sound like. Hope this helps, and take care of them drums.

I like the fact that it's a 6 piece kit, when it comes time for me to buy an acoustic set, that's what it will be.
I'm not a drummer per se' but anytime I've had a kit at my house to mess with, I always felt like there needed to be another drum in there and not just a set of roto toms....lol (that's what everybody had then).
