What do you guys think a good selling price on this is? I haven't been paying attention to the drumset market for years now so i have no clue.

here's what it is:

*red mapex mars series (kick, 2 toms, 1 floor tom) - solid as fuck
-The connector to one of the tom's is a little messed up. just the little ring piece. you can easily fix it/buy a replacement. since it broke a few years back, I've just made due with it by stuffing some extra paper towels around it. ha.
-The Top of the tomtom and floor tom heads are old remo heads (the ones with the black ring on it...i think they are weatherking?). they should be replaced. but, they don't NEED to be. You could tune em up and after a week of being played on they'd warm up and be decent sounding again i'd imagine. But they are 3-4 years old, and should be replaced.
-The bottom of the 2 tomtom's are much newer (i bought them and put them on). They are black remo weatherkings, pretty nice. These don't really need replaced i'm sure. They look new.
-The bottom of the floor tom is the mapex head that I got with the set.
-The kick drum front head is busted in, but at one time it was a pretty expensive evans eq3 batter head. pissed me off when it broke. So you'll need another of those.
-The kick drum back head is the mapex one with a hole in it for micing, and it's fine. Bunch of stickers on it, which could be gotten off with some of that goo gone shit i'm sure.
-Also some stickers on the 2 tomtoms, again goo gone will get rid of them if you don't want em.

*Snare drum/stand
-The drum istelf is pretty beat up, it'll work fine, but the whole thing needs replaced. A few snares are gone, and the head is pretty beaten up. The case is in decent shape.
-The stand is fine.

*Cymbals
-Paiste 502 14" hi-hat top and bottom. Pretty decent condition, and I really like the sound of this hat over a lot of others.
-Hi-Hat stand is in great shape.
-Paiste 302 18" crash/ride. Great shape, fine cymbal.
-18" medium crash if you want it, it's cracked a lot. ha.
-another paiste 502 crash, cracked.
-sabian B8 8" splash. sounds fine, never used it. ha. it came with the set the last time i bought it though.
-Then, my pride and joy, fucking massive ride cymbal. It's a fucking expensive ass 20"-22" (i forget, and too lazy to measure right now) rock ride cymbal. It's a zildjian avedis, it rules. Anyway it sounds awesome i love it. ha.
-2 boom stands, 1 in great shape one in ok shape.
-3 other stands, 2 are kinda cheap, they are all in fine shape.

*Kicks
-1 Sonar double bass pedal, needs some screws/repair. But it worked well in it's day. I forgot where i got it from. ha.
-Mapex pedal
-Tama pedal
-Bunch of beaters, i'll give them all to you obviously.

*Other
-The drum throne is fine, paded. Kinda a pain to adjust the height, so do it once and don't change it ever again. ha.
-Real nice cases for the mapex parts of the set. Soft cases with handels, they are tite...never really used em though.

Seems like a lot of the kit needs replacing. Can't find the Mars series on Mapex's site so I guess they don't make them anymore. How much did you pay for it?

Well...with all that stuff thrown in you might be able to get 500 or so for it, if you find somebody who likes repairing gear or just wants it for parts (unlikely). Not many people will buy a kit that's so broken down and beat up.

Who knows, throw a price on it and see what kind of offers you get!

I would say it's worth about $300 Maximum.

Why so low?

#1. You've got stickers on everything.
#2. The Kit needs new heads.
#3. The Tom mount has to be replaced.
#4. The Snare strainer will have to be replaced, or perhaps the entire snare will need to be replaced.

The cracked/broken cymbals aren't worth anything.

Here's what I would do if I were you:

Replace the heads with a set of heads that are all the same type. Just get white coated or clear drumheads by Remo. That will be the cheapest.

Clean all of that sticker shit off of them, clean them up and polish them up so that they look really nice, and take a few pictures of them. Then put them up for sale.
Here is what I would sale as a package:
Drums - Kick, Snare and 3 toms.
Cymbals- pair of hi-hats, and the 3 cymbals that are not cracked/broken (Crash, Ride, splash).
Hardware - 3 cymbal stands, hi-hat stand, snare stand, and 1 kick pedal, and 1 throne.

Then offer any miscellaneous hardware that you have after the fact.

You might even be able to get up to $600 out of them, it all depends upon how long you are willing to sit on the kit.

But in the current shape it's in, I wouldn't expect to get much out of it, because the buyer is going to have to put a lot of work and money into it. People would rather put their money toward a functionming kit, than buy one that they can't even play when they get it. ( I mean, it needs a kick head for God's sake! Nobody cares that it once had an expensive head on it. John Holmes once had an enormous penis, but that doesn't do him any good now that he's been dead almost 20 years. :D )

I used to buy and repair used drumkits and turn around and sell them for sometimes up to four times what I invested in the kits - so that's what I'm basing my pricing on.
