This one is called "Crying Angel". It's a long one, with some jam stuff in it so be prepaired as it is NOT radio ready. This one has a little funk in it with some rock too. It is also my first rough mix. The toms are a little too resonant, and I am still working on the vocals. It seems somewhat muddy on some systems and other it's fine. On my monitors it works, let me know what you think. Thanks.

What kind of recording equipment did you use?

I like the song.... Funkay!

...

i liked it. i though the acoustic and electric guitars were well balanced. like you say, it is a bit jammy and could use some cut and paste. I like the sections where the vocals are distorted a bit... how do you get that effect?

for the drums I used mainly Old School Audio pre's (which I love) and then the Pro MPA, and an RNP. I used Neuman KM-184's as overheads, D-112 and a C-1 on kick, a 57 on snare, a Senn 604 on top tom, and a 421 on the low tom. The guitars were through a Strat and a Marshall silver jubille and a 57. The bass was direct through my Pro MPA, and I use a Fender Getty Lee Jazz. The Vocals were sung through an AT 4047 (good mic by the way), and everthing after the drums was done through OLD School Audio Preamps (OSA) I have all three models, and they were all used.

The distorted vocals had a tad of filtering and some vintage warmer which I have been liking lately.

We will be cutting off most of the jam stuff for the radio edit also.

Thank you for everything so far, please keep them coming.

Really good stuff there. Don't cut any of it, it sounds great the way it is! To hell with what the mainstream expects.

How's the feel of the Geddy Lee bass? I've been thinking about buying one as a performance bass for Berklee.

thanks man. I love the Getty Lee. It is one of the easiest playing basses I have ever used. The neck is slim and I can jump all over it more like a guitar which is what I usually play, so it makes for a nice transition. It also has a great sound. I have used it in a lot of different styles and it works well for all. I know a very prominant studio bass player and he uses it and a fretless for eveything. I much prefer it to USA jazz basses also. I like them but this one just fits me better. And the maples neck is to die for. As you can tell I am a big fan. One problem though is that the truss rod is only accessable on the bottom of the neck meaning you have to take it off to adjust it which sucks. Let me know if you have any more questions.
