I just bought a Boss BR-532 and I dont know anything about digital recording...I have a few q's....

Can I hook it up to my computer to burn CD's or do I need to by a seperate CD recorder?

Can i mix down to tape on my stereo?

Can I use the bulit in drum machine in recording or just for playing along to?

Do I use Cakewalk or any other software or does the recorder do all the mixing?

How can I end a track andnot just have it run on with dead air(how do Select an ending point or do I just push stop on the CD recorder?)

Im so lost if anyone could answer any of these questions I'd much appreciate it>

Go to google (www.google.com) and enter br-532 pdf. The URL www.rolandus.com/SUPPORT/SOFTWARE/UPDATES.HTM has a download to help convert BR-532 output to .wav so as to burn CDs and the URL www.roland.co.uk/brochurepdf.htm has a link to a PDF file that shows all of the BR-532 outputs. These include a MIDI out, a digital out (both of which will work for PC connectivity) as well as a line out for your tape mixing.

I do not have a BR-532 so I cannot answer the remaining questions.

Reading the manual works.

(I think, don't own the thing, but normally...) You can synchronize that recorder with external equipement (other recorders, sequencers, pc) using the midi interface. But midi cannot transfer audio...

For transferring audio you can use the digital out, or an analog out (analog means that you won't have an exact copy, since it is converted to analog and back during the transfer). What your pc needs here is an audio input (digital or analog), because what you are really doing here is recording the recorders output with your pc. After that, you can just edit it or write it, just like any other audio file on yer pc.
