My Mixes

The drums are very far from tight in many places. the whole feel is sloppy and not rockin, it's hard to jam along when you are not sure if it's gonna hold. confidence is the main ingredient in any kind of rockl and this doesn't have it.

what to do...

I would say practice a bunch with a click and get your drummer tight with that.

I dig the composition though having no lyrics it doesn't stand up enough to be an instrumental. Even in an ideal state of tightness it wouldn't. I like some of the guitar stuff going on but without the integrity of the drums...well, you get me.

All the mix issues are insignificant next to the performance issues.

Yep. Exactly.

Well i hate to agree wiht jake... but i have to. The drms arnt super sloppy, but could be tighter on that first track.. and boos the volume level with soundforge, the use MPGain to normalize it down to 89 - 98 db.

I like that Soul to the Devil song, but you should back off the vocals on the verses and come into that mumble/yell chorus pretty hard. The first verse would espically be nice to have backed down.. when your taking your voice up your also getting louder, that destroys the whole emotion that the words and music are conveying. On that musical interlude the music should be just as intense as the vocals get right after it.. bring that electric out a little more and show how pissed you are.

It sounds like Sum-41. The first thing you need to do is get some kind of mastering software... it's level automatically makes it weak compared to anything else. Your guitars sound weak and distant... and I'm pretty sure I only hear them in one phone. If there's nothing you can do about the drums, but you can at least give yourself an advantage... especially on myspace where quality isn't an issue anyways, by turning that shit up.

Sounds like some decent ideas

I don't know how you guys played to those drum track...that's amazing. they're all over the place.

I do like the guitar ideas..

keep the songs, loose the drummer.

I won't comment on the vox because I am not a fan of that style of "I swallowed a microphone" singing - but that of course what this calls for.

It was a bitch tryign to record to those drums...but when i was recording i didnt really care about timing that much because i was tryignout the new drum set (pearl export) and atully i had somehtign written for that Sum 41 part but the drums didnt fit it so i ahd to use that sum41 rip off:( but that was just a test song anyways...

Sould to he devil was recorded with a shitty drum set and crpapy mics..that was my first recordign ever :D
