My mesa/boogie cab has some noise - how do i kill it in the mix?

It isn't anything unusual about the amp/cabinet...just that standard little hiss you will hear coming out of a guitar rig that is turned up with nothing coming through..heh. Some might even call it a "healthy" hiss....but...I don't like it :D

I am guessing that somehow a Noise Gate or something like that could get rid of it? I want to do it with minimum change the the track itself though - any ideas?

Not too good with EQ yet. any articles or whatever would be great.
 
Use a noise gate first. The hiss shouldnt be a problem while playing, right?

If you are using a DAW you can cut out the quiet parts or auto mute then during the mix.
