Hi, just signed up to this site today. Would like some opinions on my mix if you have the time.

I heard the song Memphis Tenessee again recently, and decided to do my own remake, must be one of the most re-made songs around.

It's at:

Thanks!

Hello,

Cool remake! Very clean tracking and a solid mix to boot.
Nice voice and use thereof.
Got any originals to throw out?
What's your set up/method for recording?

Pleasant listen.

Thanks for the comments! I've got lots of originals, I'll post some soon. Wanted to see first if anyone would ever post comments on anything... ;- )

I'm using a Roland VS-840 workstation. The electric guitars were done straight into the unit with the built in effects. Vocal mic was a Rode NT-1, plugged into my Behringer board. Acoustic guitar was recorded with the Rode. Midi tracks are the drums (Alesis DM-5) and the piano (Roland SC-88). I used Cakewalk 3 with a P-166 to do the midi, synced up to the 840.

There are 4 back vocal tracks, 8 hands clapping (all mine), doubled lead vocal, 2 ryth guitars, tambourine... lots of bouncing and use of virtual tracks!

Hey,
How do you get the audio tracks from the 840 into your cakewalk?
I've a project on zip disks recorded with an 840 ex and wanna pull the songs into Vegas. Can I keep it all in the digital domain for this?

Actually, Cakewalk 3 is midi only, so I don't bring the tracks in at all. The 840 is sync'd to Cakewalk, and the 840 and all the modules and synths are put through an analog mixer during mixdown.
