I have have like a $20 Radio Shack mic that works on my Mbox fine and records. I just got the AT3035 (which needs phantom power I know - I turned it on, it is the little button on the back of the Mbox)and I cannot get it to record the AT3035 their is like no sound at all being produced to the track, my monitors, headphones, nothing.

Does anyone know what it can be?

Is it something with the phantom power? I never used it before until now. Do you have to wait for it to warm up? Change a setting in pro tools b/c your using phantom power? Turn it on first then plug in the mic or vice versa? Do I need a different mic cable? Some please help THANKS

Hi,

Phantom power is usually just "turn on and go", no set up or anything. I cant really understand why its not working? I dont really know much about the Mbox (although im getting one in a couple of weeks) but does the phantom power work on only one channel? Is your mic plugged into the correct one? You might just want to follow every lead and just ensure its all cabled up correctly. Hope you get some results!

Good luck!

Thanks guys, One more question:

How do you know if a mic is balanced or not?

I have been looking online and I cannot tell if they are balanced mic cables or not.

Ok i got the mic cable and i am getting sound.

Here is the problem when i record with my Mbox it has mic, line, and inst. I chosed mic and turned it all the way up and there is no sound - same with line, but when i turn it up with inst i get a low sound going into protools and humming. Anyone to fix this?

Thanks

When you use the mic-in you should have sound. How are you monitoring this?

manuals can be good things - I looked em over and got it fixed Thanks guys.

How do you keep an idiot in suspense?

I'll tell you tomorrow..
Spill the beans, Purpleb, how did you fix it?

What did you end up having to do?

And remember to turn on the phantom power after you plug the mic in.

Ok the mic/line on protools was on 1 when it should have been on 2. I know I am stupid....Stupid like a fox! Well foxes are not that stupid, but if they were I would be as stupid as a fox.

Well you guys better get use to it, b/c you will be hearing from me a lot more with stupid questions, until the newbieness wears off (which might take awhile) then I will start helping out the other newbie's w/ their newbie questions, but until then let the newbie's reign....let the newbie's reign.

Here is a question what happens after you are not a newbie anymore? Do you become an oldbie?
