....and lastly...

feel free to add to the list.

I have done a lake placid blue paint job on a vintage '66 strat...entirely in nitro lacquer. It reflects light properly and is 100% perfect (It's my '66 and I still have it)
I have done natural finishes,
ebony finishes,
oly white finishes,
aged finishes with yellow tint in the clearcoat,
a conferderate grey strat with a rebel flag pickguard...

I wanted to do a flame finish because IT'S FUN. Plus I've never done one before and I think it looks pretty cool
I left the flames on the back of the neck by the way:cool:

Ouch. Devalued 50%.

It was already refinished in an incorrect color for the year. My LPB paint job didn't devalue it in the least...if anything it increased the value.

A guitar is only worth what someone is willing to pay you for...no matter what "the book" says it's worth.

I meant to post this earlier. This is some finish a guy got a motorcycle painter dude to put on his Reverend Volcano. Looks kinda cool.

Not that I think that anyone needs to explain their choice in guitar-finish or why they think it looks cool... but mine is a tribute to my favorite music video - Tonight, Tonight by the Smashing Pumpkins

So really it's a tribute to Georges Méliès's silent film 'A Trip to the Moon'...

my Jimi Hendrix V - it started its life as an 06 red gibson flying v that i got new for about $599. i had it refinished in black with the exact replica of Jimi's V graphics. I replaced the stock pickups with 57' classics added a vintage gibson meastro tremolo and replaced the knobs with 'witchhat' knobs. it looks pretty close to the reissue.

it sounds and plays very nice:)

I guess you could say that. I've never been able to find 'A Trip To The Moon' to see it, but I would love to. Anyway, I love the Pumpkins and that video inspired me in so many ways. I'ts still propably my favorite music video. I was still a kid and it was a time of my life I'll never forget.

I forgot to include a pic oif the back of the guitar.

Jimi, NICE! It looks very well done. I can't believe all the people ripping on it, I think it's cool. Then again, I'm kind of your basic hippy-type, you know "Whatever's in your heart, that's cool!"

Do you have a page or a photobucket or something with pics of other work you've done? I'd love to see it.

I love the notion of making a guitar all your own. For some, I suppose they're little antiques, to be restored but never modified, then adored from a distance? For me, I play 'em & enjoy 'em. And if that means changing and customizing it, then I say go for it! I've never painted one--but only 'cause I can't. If I could--I would. In fact, now I just might.

Great job Jimi!

Nice. Does the orange part near the neck joint continue around the sides, or are they just black?

that's gonna be a sweet looking ax jimi. excellent color transition in the flames.
