Somewhere in Space
Honestly...you might be better off to just bulldoze that structure and build a brand new one in its place.
I mean..do the math, because it looks like it will be a fairly large cost to fix what is there...though you know better since you are there and we are just seeing pictures.
I only say that assuming you are talking about a having a more formal studio as opposed to just a space to call a studio...?
If the costs are close to go either way...I say rip it down and then do it right. Oh...and you *WILL* need A/C...and to get proper ducts so that you are not hearing the A/C in the recording area...I say rip it down and start clean, 'cuz it will be a chore doing it with the existing space, unless there is a decent attic space.
If it's more for personal use only...then you can work around the various limitations of the existing space, since there will not be any clients to piss off.![]()
It's not as bad as it looks in the pics. A little cleanup will go a long way.
There will be proper A/C installed. Also, the structure is still reliable. You'd have to see it in person,...the pics do not do it justice.
There's only water damage in one back corner (where the control room will be)..and that is from an old refrigeration unit. The damage is on the floor, which is a very small spot. Other than that,..there's only water damage to the walk-in cooler (which I may be detaching it from the side of the building, and renewing the wall).
I have a couple friends that are willing to lend a helping hand with labor and materials also.
Yes, the studio will be more of personal use...but as I said earlier,..if it can pay it's own bills here and there,..why not?. There aren't many studios in my area. There is something like 2 professional studios,..and a handful of underground "bedroom studios".
I am very grateful to have such a friend to lend me a spot such as this.
It will take some time to get it up to par,..due to the fact that I work 2 jobs, play in 4 different bands, and have a couple other projects goin' on as well,...but I'm up for the challenge.
