Just finished a rough mix on this new song I recorded of my friends new band. I like the way it came out. The vocals may need some more editing you guys be the judge tell me what you think of everything overall.

There is nothing worse then a person who views but doesnt post. God kills a kitten everytime someone views and doesnt post.

Sounds allright, the vox sound Kinda Jacko at times, it needs at bit more tweaking, but not bad.

the panning seemed a bit extreme.

cool though.

what sort of gear did you use?

sm57 on the acoustic guitars. I mic'ed her expensive piano speaker becuase her piano need a preamp for some reason I didnt get enough power from my mixer soo I just mic'ed it it came out fine I think. I used a Groove Tube GT55 for the vocals and all of it was right into my Tascam FW-1082 interface.

EVERYTHING WAS REMIXED!!!! CHECK IT OUT!

My mamma taught me that if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all.

So....

The vocals are a little thin & the piano a litle distant.
The guitars come up well. The third voice harmony line is nice.

Not a bad song.

Everything sounds a bit tiny though. It doesn't have much bottom end. If there isn't going to be any bass instruments, I'd open up the bottom end of the present vocals and instruments to fill it out more.

Otherwise cool work.

Cheers

Ooh yeah thats cause I taught your mamma that last night.

The acoustic guitar pick attack is killing me here. I would either try and eq that out or try a differenct mic'ing method. It sounds like he's using an ultra thin guitar pick that is about 4" long on each side. It ills me.
