dunno if anyone fancies listening to this

It was all recorded in my home without a clue what was gonna be played so there is shit loads of mistakes I know plus the drums are pretty shit quality unfortunately so I did my best to get a good sound out of them.

Mics used

T-Bone SC 100 stereo set... X-Y position
Studio Projects B1 on snare
T-Bone BD300 on kick

Shure SM57 + T-Bone Ribbon on guitars

Bass was DI'd

any comments gladly welcome

thanks :)

The low end is muddy, you have bass, kick and guitars fighting for space. You need to deside which instrument you want to occupy the bottom end and retrack or do some heavy eqing. I would check the tuning on the guitars, turn the gain down some, pan them less and bring down the volume. Try a low shelf cut on the guitars, maybe around 80hz. If you want the kick to occupy the low end , low pass in the 60 to 80 range. Low shelf cut the bass around 60 and notch around 100hz, then boost the bass in the 2.5k area. You might need to notch the guitars in this area, alittle. If you want the bass to have the low end, then flip flop the eqing or tune the kick higher and retrack. The frequencies I suggested are just starting points. I listened with crappy phones, so take my suggestions with a grain of salt. :D

horrible timing..... not my style music ...dont like the drums...but i guess not bad for a "first" recording

yeah the drummer isn't very good, he's only been playing a few months but he was the only guy around at the time :)

I now have a good drummer living in my house so we are going to be working on some songs and recording them.. I'll spend more time on the sound, make sure the bass sound isn't so boomy so it doesn't muddy the bottom as much
