This is my first MP3 submission to this BBS. These songs were recorded a year ago by my high school garage band in response to our unfair defeat in the school's talent show. They were recorded with only 3 Shure mics (not SM5x's though) we borrowed from the stage, my TASCAM 424MKII, and a ZOOM guitar pedal. Oh, I also utilized Dragon's HiFi VCR thingie. To sum up, very cheaply recorded, noisy, but (IMHO) good recordings.

Some wild noise in the background, sounds almost like a crowd of people. I only listened to the first song, being on this high speed 56K modem line, I only can listen to so much.

Pretty good recording really. Punk music (if that's what it is) isn't my thing so I can't comment much on musically. The timing could be better, drummer tends to race all over - but if you averaged the time for the whole song i suppose he isn't that far off.

Yeah- timing is an issue. Especially in "Creep" and "Rockin"
But I think the vocals have merit in this genre.
The weird high-frequency noise that sounds like a tape head picking up the rewind I think is the result of shabby encoding. Have you got some control that indicates a fast encode or a high quality encode with a slider between them? "ARC", "DMPS", "Lullabye" and "Juvi" were almost completely broken up. "Creep" encoded clean.
That attempt to bring the voices up in "watchtower" by simply muting a few tracks sounded like a dropout! You got it right in a later verse where you left the music going behind the vocal track.

Thanks a whole lot guys-

Yeah, timing was really off - we recorded this in a real hurry. I'm doing a new batch of songs, and I've improved a lot of things. One is using a metronome. I've redone the encoding - thanks, drstrawl.
The guitar in watchtower was never recorded during the parts where it drops out. Oh, and thanks for the vocal compliment - I'm very shy about that. (oh and check out the webpage too!)

vocals worked pretty good...wonder what they'd be like without the distortion, a la sex pistols of old?...."pony" rocked...gibs

The songs were good (even the ones I did't recognize).

Soundwise, the voice has a good sound, good voice too. The guitar sound is to edgy for my tastes (did you line it? That would explain it in that case), and mixed too loud. Did the guitarist mix? :) The drums doesn't sound very good, so you need to improve on that. And yeah, it's noisy as heck, and things distort all over the place, but you already know that. :)

Free World my fav. Band pretty tight on the chunk groove (could be tighter =) ). Keep on rockin!
