Hi
I just uploaded my first recording efforts.
I thik they sound funny can anyone download them and help me by saying what I need to do to get a better sound?

You got some super distortion going on there.

But outside of that - whoever is singing the lead has a great singing voice. - pitch/good ear.

cool song.
 
To get this sounding better, find where this distortion is occuring - are you transferring it from a cassette? Something is too hot.
 
Well, I recorded it into my PC useing an old shure mic and a 4 channel shure preamp mixer.
I ran them through the line out to the line in on my sound card. I dont know what type of mics thet are cause the names are all wore off.
the guitar I recorded useing the same mics. the guitar itself is just an old $50 yamaha nylon string.
I used a prog called Dclip it has 4 tracks to play with. And I encoded the MP3 with a freeware prog called SCMPX.
Im gona be getting Cool Edit Pro soon my friend works at a softwere store and is gona give me a phat discount on it. maybe that might help =)
 
oh and thanks for the complament on my singing. I been doing it sence I was 4 and I been playing the git-picker sence I was 6.
in 24 now.
 
My favorite was surrealscape, though they were all played/sung well. You got the levels best on that tune, so this leads me to believe that the horrendous clipping going on was in the mix and not on individual tracks.
If you turn down the output of that Shure mixer does the clipping stop? Or are you mixing 4 tracks imported separately and forgetting to back off of the volume on each track before you play it back? The V/U meters in Cool Edit Pro should help you figure this one out. Under 0 dB good. Over 0 dB bad.

I noted your spelling style in general is sort of "beat" and don't give a shit about that but I draw the line at the guy's name. All about credit where credit is due. If his work was good enough to use in your mp3, you can go the extra millimeter and spell his name right.

Ill fix it up next time I update the web page, which should be soon. I just got Cool Edit installed and have been playing around with it. The few tracks I have laid down already sound better cause I can see the levels and I can keep them from cliping.
I think surrealscape is better mixed cause all the others were done before, practis makes perfict 8^)

unzipped Bus Song...nice song, nice voice, but mucho distortion...cool edit should do ya good...you'll like it....gibs

CEP ROCKS!!!!!!!! I just laid down some tracks. OMG does it help. Im gona re-record everything on my web page. I can EQ it up get a pinch of verb some chouris on them git-pickers. Ill post when I get the 'NEW' songs up =)
