This weekend, me and my band recorded for the first time in my "home studio" which actually consists of a soundcard with a line in input, a few sm 57s, a beta 52, Adobe Audition, and a mixer.

The band has a hardcore-progressive esque style. I know there are some timing issues, and I know the sounds we got aren't the best. I do want to work with what we have and call it a demo. Due to equipment limitations, the Drums are sumed up to one track, so panning the drums isn't going to happen. I haven't really done much in terms of eq, but to me the track sounds a bit bloated.

I uploaded what I have to megaupload.

Please download it and tell me where to start to make it sound, listenable.

The drums are the best part of the mix.

You need to dial the distortion on the guitars WAY down or else they'll have that crispy irritating top end.

I don't think there's any chance to save this particular take. But try again when you get together next time --- and bring up the drums a little bit or drop the guitars in the mix.

And next time post your mix in the MP3 Mixing clinic forum.
