Here's a short acoustic guitar passage recorded 5 different times on 5 different mics. Pretty much my entire arsenal. Done at the same session. It's called mictest2.mp3 at http://www.nowhereradio.com/ under alternative or Volume 11.

The signal chain:
Mic about 9 inches away from 12th fret of cheapo acoustic.
Mic to Mackie 1202 mic pre. Out insert to Delta 1010 into Sonar at 44.1/24 bit.
No effects, no Eq.

Any suggestions/comments welcome.

The mics. In this order:
Sennheiser 421 MKII
Behringer ECM8000
Shure SM-57
Peavey HD-40 (similar to an SM-58: looks-wise anyway)
Marshall V67

try finger-picking again, I can imagine they all sound 10 times better

The ECM8000 sounds better than I thought it would comparitively. I just got mine and should have my 603s by the weekend -time for my own comparison!

That was intended to be Boston "More Than A Feeling" ...right? If so -great job. If intended to be original, better change it! : )

Behringer was clearly the winner for me. The V67 was also quite nice.

Oh yah! Use a tuner next time you do this! :D

Hoky,
Consider any future Autocad lessons from me out of the question.
I wish I could blame it all on the tuner.:D

There's some better guitar playing on the other single there.
