Damn ya'll I was rolling...

Not all of my tracks where the hottest shit but all of em could ride and some are pure bangers. Everything from pop club to dirty south thuggery to nasty skrippa booty to gospel story telling... I even slipped some wanna be acid jazzy shit in there... Now I can't drop a single note that makes any kind of sense the next day. Shit even was giving me a damn headache last night. This has been going on for about a week now so it's a official slump. BWann Wann wannnnnn.....

Damn I was flipping through what I got and it's like 60 to 70 or more beats (many all just general layouts) so far this year... 3 zip disks and about 20 something on the RM1X setup... I was knocking of three a day in January when i didn't have a ride and one a day almost everday I had some free time.

Fuck it though... More time to work on some older songs I guess.

Maybe i'll be back on tonight....

I always come out these slumps hard as all hell so even though it's fustrating I'm kinda laughing cuz of the madness it'll bring. ;)

yo

i feel you lazi, when i'm in slumps i switch to something else for a while. i switch to graphics and photography when i'm in a music slump. right now i'm working on videos. but i feel you on that coming out hard thing, i heard stray's beats he have posted and i knocked out like two nice rough draft raps two em just this morning.

Lazi,

I second what Jugalo is saying here. Changing pace is always a good way to move past a plateau. Being that you do so much, switch gears for a few and see what happens.

Last time I was in a slump I organized my whole sample library and built some new drum kits out of samples I didn't even realize I had. Slumps are almost good because you know you have all that creative energy pent up and it just explodes when you are finally able to use it again.

It sounds like you've already got a bunch of work done this year. Anything I can hear?

Stray

lazi...just take some deep breaths and it will all come back to u...u always put out the hits...every great hit maker goes into a slum...and always come back harder then eva...

yeah

soundboy, you are getting better at it. hmm, makes me wanna hit the lab right now.

Word... This shit is just like a break. Almost a breath of air...

Hell I was looking over what all I gotta do as far as my projects i got going and I'm hella behind right now. Kinda needed to get on this track... No doubt I don't need anymore beats but damn I like dropping like i'm a junkie.

Damn I thought I had more up. I'll get some more in a day or 2.

Soundboy---
My soundcard has been staying at the lab so I check shit on other folks computers. I'll get at ya when I can...

Come to see for the 500th time.... If I go ahead and get my damn studio work done like I should instead of burying my head in the beats then I can hit the streets more...

"Miss What U Had" I like the marimba type patch you have going on in the background, it has a nice rhythm to it. I can definitely vibe to this track. It makes me think of cruising around on a summer day.

"Heavin and Helenbach" this is something different. I'd like to hear flowing over this. The bass on this is nicely done. The only thing that stands out is that orch type hit, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but other than that, nice mix on both tracks.

I can't listen to the other 2 because I'm on dial up and they are hi-fi. Post the page links or lo-fi links if you can.

Impressive work Lazi.

It's a drag to know you are in a slump, but still have that drive to still wanna do a beat. Man i sorta did what Stray did. I went through a gang of drum kits and samples i didn't know i had and made some new programs, and that's all it took. I was back on slang beats left and right. I went through and organized a gang of stuff too.

That one joint with that guitar sample is hella tight, though.

I need to get my guitarist up to that playing level.

I'm feeling that Heavin And Helenbach fo sho too. Miss what you had is clean. But i like the different ish you got up in Heavin and Helenbach, cause as an artist I like to flip my flow all the time. With different sounds coming in and out it's easier to do that.

oh yeah,
Slump Deez Nuts in ya Mouth hahahahahahahahaha
man, my partna been on a "yada yada deez nuts in ya mouth " trip and it's starting to rub off on me. just had to throw it in hahahaha

I musta missed when u posted Heavin. shit is hot. everything is tight EXCEPT, i'm not feeling that orch hit too much. its not all that bad, but its just not as good as the other elements.

This is crazy...

Man it wasn't even really a official slump after all... I guess I ened up turning it into one though.

I was fipping through some tracks and decided to hit some of my wack ass beat slump tracks. I was suprised as hell... The beats are actually just some crazy beats that my head just wasn't even ready for. My mind and ears just weren't connecting I guess cuz everthing sounds pretty good now. Crazy flows that I hadn't touched on yet... It's one track that I gotta take out the last couple things I added cuz I was trying to force the beat to sound right. Once I take out those tracks the beat is cool as a fan. Shit is crazy cuz now i'm not doing beats right now and it's even a few tracks I didn't bother to keep all cuz of that. Dahh well...

Anyway with a few days away from dropping and a fresh album and mixed disk layed down I'm cool as a fan. Maybe ready to get back at it in a day or 2... I'm not used to headaches and shit...

cool

that's some good news. post a snippet of the album for us to peep. just a little tease. how much are they going for?

YUSUF MALIK

I posted links to these cuts a minute back... Dude moved to the CHI and we have been working out the details with this label that's really draggin ass so it's been a slow process. I thought we'd drop the poject on my deal last year but the funds weren't there to back it. So now it's on the label... I've had this down a good minute but we are just mking the ifnal decsions and adjustments based on the budget and yadda yadda...

Yo Jug you should enter the contest... I don't know how completely how it works but they got something going though. I'll make a post about it.
