I bought my first amp in a pawn shop. I don't remember what the wattage was, but it had 6 10 inch speaks in the cab. I do remember that it said "Sears" on the head though.
I had one of those....a Silvertone 6-10. The head fit into a recess in the cabinet. If I remember correctly...it sounded like shit.
Also, Sears once made an amp with 6-15s and the head all in one cabinet. It had olive-green tolex. What a hideous thing that was.

...If you put it long enough in your toilet, liutenant, then you'll hear splash sound of shit hitting the water... :D

My first real amp was a Gibson Falcon or similar model with the silkiest tone and most luscious reverb that I can remember. I traded it at some point for the above-mentioned Silvertone. It has taken years of intensive psychotherapy for me to be able to admit this!

A small tube Stromberg Carlson PA head with a EMC cabinet{2X12's}..it didn't sound toooooo bad.LOL

In 1983, I saved up my wages ($2.85/hr baggin groceries wages!) and bought myself a Gorilla 50watt practice amp with a 12" speaker brand spankin new for $95. That sucker was loud. Not the best sounding amp, but hey.. I was 14.

In 1987, I upgraded to a Roland JC120. Which I still have and use. That thing is a tank. Stupidly loud.

In 1997, I bought my Marshall Artist 3203 1/2 stack. Still have it. Amps are too expensive for me to go through, so I've managed to make do with what I have and live with them.

No doubt. I think I bought my first based on wages as a paperboy.

paperboy here too. Saved 800$ for my first 4-track, a tascam porta one i think. if i had stuck that money in microsoft stock, my first multitrack recorder would have been a studer 24-track...

Not including dads stereo...

My first amp that actually looked like one was a cute little Peavey Decade. I can't lie it was more than plenty for my small apartments. Bright mind you... but loud

I was lucky to have access to a friend's Princeton Reverb when I first learned to play in college, so that's what I used then. After graduating I played only my acoustic for about the next 15 years, when I played at all.

I bought my first amp only a few years ago just for messing around in the basement, a used used Ampeg SS70C for $75. It's a solid state 70 watt guitar amp with built in chorus and 2 10" Celestion's. For cleaner stuff it's actually not too bad an amp but when you really crank it the distortion gets pretty shrill.

I still have it, but I rarely plug it in anymore since i record direct. I bought a SansAmp Bass Driver recently and for kicks I tried that between my guitar and the amp's effects return. It actually sounded pretty nice. I guess maybe it wasn't the worst way I could have spent the $75 at the time.

a country pickin friend of mine had one of those silvertone guitars with the amp built into the case. He still has it. :)

my first was such a hunk of shit it didnt even have a name on it

Not really an amp, but it was a Tom Scholz Rockman. Then I decided to be loud and annoying so I bought a Fender Princeton Chorus. Those are really underrated amps, IMO. Especially being so cheap. Traded it years ago (plus cash) for a '59 Bassman reissue.

H2H

my first amp

My very first amp was my older sisters old Emerson mono record player. After buying my first guitar, my dad came home with a 1/4" jack and wired it into the (tube) pre amp where the stylus fed into the circuit. It had an off-on-volume control and a non-variable two position tone control. If you shut it off, you could tell it had been on, the volume was so low. After that, a solid state Jordan amp with 1 - 12" Jensen (still have the Jensen). Then a solid state Acoustic Bass amp, then an Ampeg V-2 top.
Now a bunch of old Marshalls and Fenders.

My first was a POS peavey rage, then, i was stupid enough to buy a peavey bandit, and yes, peavey does make alot of crappy crap. what a piece of junk. but now, its a sovtek mig 60 all tube amp into a fender 2*12, and it is heaven.

No name ? well... if it sounded like shit then it must be Silvertone 6-10 Lt Bob mentioned... :D

Back in the seventies...
Not sure if I remember the name right. But it was a real beat up Burns amp. I think it was called "Burns London Orbiter three Double twelve". For some obscure reason it was equipped with two Celestion speakers. I think they were stock. They shouldn't have bothered...

another rager...

AHH the first one was a peavey rage. Played on it for over ten freakin years. The worst thing is the little distortion switch on it, for a while I had to tell everyone "pause while I switch to distortion", untill I bought a distortion pedal. It was good I think cause it made me learn how to make the guitar sound good on that unit, without having all kinds of effects to mask my booboo's. Then I got a WAHWAH and started masking everything.

Just to add to the no-name stuff here, I did pick up a little tiny white amp that is about the same size as the rage, for 10 bucks in a garage sale. And it sounds great. After that I had my own mini stack :D...

I have since progressed to a behringer, with a FOOTSWITCH and all kinds of effects, and I think it sounds really good for what it does. I still love playin the old rage tho, its kinda nostalgic now (Im not that old but it sorta feels like I am)

Anyone remember the "Pig Nose"?

You wore it around your neck....
