ok, jokes aside. I want to learn and to get better, so I expect a lot of critisism. This is a song that I wrote to commemorate my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary, so it's not exactly what I would "normally" play, though it is a similar style. It's basic, just four tracks. but I like it. Please let me know. You all have been sooo helpful in getting me set up. Thanks a lot.

Pretty effective use of double vocals. I really like this track. With just a guitar and voice, you were able to construct a lovely atmosphere. Very listenable tune. I don't know if anything needs tweaking. I don't think so. Well done. Nice performance, playing, singing, mixing, use of effect etc....

I'm really impressed with these tascam recordings....much better than I expected them to be. The tune is not what I would normally listen to, but I cant fault your technique or composition. I agree with the double tracked vocals, they work well. The guitar sounds particularly nice, whats your setup? Did you plug directly in, did you mic it up?

WOW thanks! My set up was pretty bare-bones. I ran two Naiant XQ SDC's into the stock preamps for my acoustic. My vocals were sung through a CAD GXL 3000 set on cardoid, again through the stock pres. As far as editing; I only had to edit one spot, my picking pattern got flubbed, so I recorded a second set of stereo tracks and "comped" the two together using the faders (since the 488 doesn't have a mute function.) No compression or expansion on this since my Y cable hadn't come in yet. I added a bit of reverb courtesy of an alesis picoverb. I mixed through a set of KRK Rokit 6s in the same room I tracked. It was as rough-hewn a setup as you've ever seen. But thank you for the kind words. I really do appreiate them.

I did a modified XY placement right about where the neck joins the body. I didn't track too hot right around 0Dbvu. I think the mics were 8-12 inches from the guitar. Does that help?

can't wait to hear it!!!!

Anyone else? I understand it's a very niche market song, but I'm looking for comments or constructive critisism about the recording itself. Thanks for the comments so far and for listening.
