It lights up when plugged in but the computer doesn't seem to actually detect the microphone. Also I am looking to get a table stand for the microphone - Can you use any mic table stand or do you have to buy a specific one for the Samson G Track?

What software are you using to record the input? You will need to select it from the software. Did you install a driver for it? What computer are you using?

The shockmount should be a universal mic mount. Most any stand should work. Desk mount stands will transmit some vibrations from your desk, so likely better to use a boom stand, that sits on the floor.

I have a Windows 7 computer with 8GB Memory. What's strange is that when I used the microphone a few months ago the computer recognised it and automatically installed the drivers then.

The room where my computer is, is too small for a boom stand and I feel it would be more practical just having it on the table.
