yeah, that's right, my clicks and pops are back..this time during mixdown...

I have all of my tracks ready to be mixed down. so I started with one song, and everything was goin fine. I was adding (non-destructively) effects to drums, guitars etc.. everything was fine during playback.. after I saved the work however, when I returned to open the session, playback was slowed, many click and crackles were coming through, and my hopes were shattered....
When I started work on the next song. i got to a certain point where I couldn't add anymore effects before playback was f**d.. wondering if anyone had any ideas as to what this could be? I don't think it's my soundcard, b/c i re-route the audio through my USB interface and the same events occur. and i don't believe my processor is to blame b/c my comp is plenty fast, and it's never been on the internet, or used for anything other than audio recording. I'm running Adobe Audition 3.0 and was thinking maybe there was some sort of setting that needs to be changed, or maybe the program itself is faulty, or poorly engineered... don't know.. looking for some help....ANY help/suggestions...

Here are a few common reasons for the click/pop thing. Go through this small list and see if any of these will help:

1. Are you using any demo plugins? Sometimes in order to force you to buy them, they will add clicks/pops or a chime.

2. If you are adding a lot of time based effects (delay, pitch shifter, certain auto tuning plugins), that can hamper your system as well. Even on fast computers, you can still get some bogging down of the system.

3. Lastly, have you tried locking your effects so that they aren't played back in real time, but printed to the track when you are playing it back? This will also eleviate some of the load on your cpu.

I've had clicks/pop appear on burned CD/playback with trial software, but you didn't hear it when capturing the music or playing bait back on the computer.
