For those of you who've not been following, I sniped another HR member without knowing to get this Beyer Soundstar MkII mic for £27. But then the mic never showed, and the seller seemed a bit suspicious, telling me he'd shipped before I'd paid.

But it's arrived, and it works!!!!!

Now I have to get on and use the damn thing, cancel my coursework etc.

And a big thank you to Chessparov for spotting it for me. Bargain!

I'm watching another now. Let us know how it works for you, please.

I'm having some noise issues with the mains supply in my new house - when my computer's on, every socket in the house puts a buzz on radios. So I can't tell you about the noise from it, but I will endeavour to test the sound ASAP. But if it's good enough for Chessparov and Harvey, I guess there's no real debate to be had!!!

I got a mint one on eBay for $33 including shipping. I've got to give thanks to Harvey and Chris for the advice. It's a solid mic.

More like "if it's good enough for Harvey, then it's good enough for chessparov".

Harvey's experience and judgement is superior to mine, to give credit where its due.
It takes me a long time to "understand" a vocal mic, if that makes sense. :)

Very handy for a "P-popper"/LOUD vocalist like myself for live performances BTW.

Thanks in any case guys...

Chris

I just finished leaping all over one that appeared on eBay tonight. I banged the BIN button for $45. It was on the board for 6 hours and nobody touched it... funny. They have been selling for a lot more recently.

I'm looking forward to it as a Poor Man's SM7.

Good for you.

For my voice, it's somewhat easier to use than a SM7 as the frequency response is like a SM7 already "preset" for it vs. EQing the SM7.
The SM7 has a wider sweet spot though.
