My Audiophile 2496 Still Won't Record!

I'm confused!

I know that I need a mono cable with only ONE 1/4" male.

But I'm not sure if I need it to end in ONE or TWO RCA males. Does it matter? If I get one with TWO RCA males, do I plug them both into their respective inputs on the soundcard?

Dumb questions, but I want to get this right this time. I'm real anxious to start recording.

Sorry about the confusion. If you're only recording one channel at a time, you only need half of the cable I suggested. But the other half is there just in case you ever decide to record two channels at the same time. Of course you would need another mic and preamp, or some other sound source to plug the other end of that half of the cable into.

So, to summarize: For recording ONE channel of audio, you would plug ONE of the 1/4" connectors into the output of your preamp, and the ONE corresponding RCA plug at the other end of the cable into ONE input jack of your Audiophile. Doesn't matter which ONE you choose, as long as you set your recording program to get its input from that source.

Hope this is clear enough. And try not to be too anxious. Be patient, be persistent, and you will "get it" soon enough.

Got it! I'm well on my way. At least until the next problem arises! Thanks so much for the help...
