My 500th Post!!!

Greetings fellow HomeRec’ers. In honor of my 500th post here, I’ve posted to recent practice recordings over at my band’s soundclick page.

Why is this in the mic forum you ask? The tracks were recorded with mics and gear I’ve learned about here on the forum including a pair of Peluso CEMC6s and Josephson C42s, as well as the Studio Projects C1 and Sennheiser e609.

How would you compare the Pelusos to the

Both are EXCELLENT mics in my humble opinion. I would use the C42s more for aggressive music - and I think I would close mic the toms too. Very sweet top end.

The Pelusos are more true or natural sounding to my ears, and seemed to take EQ and compression just a little bit better. They are also excellent on cymbals and perfect for a three mic set up (adding a good kick mic).

We did a quick n' dirty three mic shootout on acoustic guitar - C42s vs. CEMC6 vs. older Octava's. All three were very usuable, all slighty different, but still very pleasing.

The C42s had the nicest top end, the CEMC6s had the nicest overall sound with added warm and tight bottom end; the Octavas came in a close third place. After some processing, the Pelusos were my fav overall, but only for this initial test.

At the end of the day we all agreed each of these mics would do the job and do it very well. Obviously you would treat each with a different amount of EQ, compression, mic placement, verb, etc.
